It’s the end of the semester, and not to mention the end of the year. We are all looking for a little rest and relaxation after this very long, tedious semester. The Dallas Arts District is getting in the spirit by celebrating the Holidays in the district with many amazing, festive activities for the whole family. After a long week of finals we suggest that you enjoy the holiday festivities at The Dallas Museum of Art during their late night on December 16th. For only $5 you can attend the up-coming Late Night at The Dallas Museum of Art and enjoy all of the wonderful warmth of our local museums until midnight! Don’t forget to check out the Jean Paul Gaultier event and the Mark Bradford exhibit. If all of the exhibits inside the DMA aren’t enough for your wandering eyes, then you can take a stroll through the Arts District and see the beautiful Christmas tree. Don’t forget that you can take the DART train down to the Arts District for free with your UTD DART pass. For under $10 you can travel down to the Arts District and start getting in the holiday spirit to prepare to see your folks during the holiday break!
If you’re a lover of fashion perhaps you have heard of the little design house of Jean Paul Gaultier. Jean Paul Gaultier is living proof that fashion can be walking art work, and the Dallas Museum of Art is bringing some of his most influential pieces to an exhibit. That’s right ladies and gentlemen, you can be up close and personal with avant-garde couture fashion that has left its everlasting mark on our society. This is the first exhibit at the Dallas Museum of Art that will explore the world of fashion. The exhibit at the Dallas Museum of Art will open to the public on Sunday, November 13, 2011. The cost of admission is $12.00 for students, but please don’t forget that you must pay $5 student admission to the museum first. At this exhibit you will see 30 animated mannequins, including one of Jean Paul Gaultier himself, and will feature approximately 120 ensembles. This is an event that no college fashionista will want to miss; fashion from the sidewalk to the catwalk event will run until February 12, 2012.
